About
Originally raised in Vandalia, Ohio, I attended Dayton Christian schools from Kindergarten through high school graduation. I lived for a summer in Germany, then returned to majored in English and Philosophy at the University of Dayton. I earned my bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in December 2000. I also participated in the Honors Program, the Golden Key Honors Society, and Phi Sigma Tau.
I continued my education at the University of Dayton School of Law. I served on the Law Review for two years. I also was one of four students selected in 2004 for the National Mock Trial Competition team. I graduated from law school in May 2004, and I was licensed to practice law in Ohio in November 2004.
During law school, I served as a law clerk with the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, with one summer in the Juvenile Division and one summer in the General Division. After graduation from law school, I returned to the General Division as a full-time judicial staff attorney with Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. During my time with the courts, I worked on hundreds of civil and criminal cases.
Since May 2007, I have been in private law practice. I currently enjoy a general practice, focused on juvenile law and civil litigation, with the firm of Finlay, Johnson & Beard, Ltd. My case work is primarily in the Montgomery and Greene counties.
Professionally, I am an active member of the Dayton, Greene County, and Ohio State Bar Associations. As an adult-onset type-1 diabetic, I proudly volunteer on the Board of Directors for the Greater Dayton Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). I actively participate in UD and UD School of Law alumni groups. I also volunteer with Sister Cities events.
My wife, Nicole, and I proudly are raising two young children in Huber Heights. We enjoy spending time at Sherman Park in Ward 3 (behind City Hall and the Police Headquarters). I relax by playing with my kids, reading, and watching TV.
I humbly accepted the appointment to represent Ward 3 beginning August 24, 2009. I am presently working on projects impacting Ward 3 and the City of Huber Heights. I am campaigning as a WRITE-IN CANDIDATE to continue for a full term as the WARD 3 COUNCIL MEMBER.
